Winter 2022

With this Christmas season looking to be even more challenging for many than the previous 2 years, and after a year that I know many people have found even more difficult than either 2020 or 2021, I am switching off and hunkering down to concentrate on recuperating, writing, planning and setting some intentions for next year.

If, during these dark weeks, you feel pulled to try something creative; I have been working my way through writer Beth Kempton’s podcast, The Way of the Fearless Writer. Beth is a Japanologist and writer, currently writing her sixth book. Within each podcast there is a short warm-up writing exercise followed by a longer exercise. Absolutely no previous writing experience required, just the will to pick up a pen, put fingers to keyboard, or voice to recorder app – whichever is your preferred method.

And if you want something to help you through the dark January days ahead, a challenge I have written about before is the 64 Million Artist’s January Challenge, which will be 10 years old this coming January. No special creative/artistic skills needed or fancy materials, just a will and a wish to dive in and try something.

Have a safe and peaceful festive season.
